DODGE CITY - Harold George Peintner, 82, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Western Plains Medical Complex at Dodge City. He was born on June 2, 1927 at Spearville, the son of George and Minnie (Schawe) Peintner. Mr. Peintner was raised in Windthorst and graduated from Windthorst High School. In 1947 he married Carmelita Stegman in Dodge City. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2008. They lived in Dodge City for two years until moving to a farm near Windhorst where he was a farmer and rancher. In 2004 they moved back to Dodge City.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and Wright Senior Citizens both of Wright; a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus and was a member of the board of directors of the Windthorst Heritage Foundation both of Windthorst; and served on the Spearville School Board for many years.
Survivors include a daughter, Gwen Schulte and husband Kenny of Dodge City; a brother, Mel Peintner of Dodge City; four sisters, Bernadine Kallaus of Dodge City; Lavona Williams of Aiea, Hawaii, Marieta Fairless of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Geneva Ridenhour of Aurora, Colorado; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Peintner was preceded in death by a son Rock Peintner in 1989, a grandson, Russell Schulte in 1983 and two brothers.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Wright with Rev. Robert A. Schremmer presiding. Vigil Service will be 7:00 P.M. Friday, March 26, 2010 at Swaim Funeral Home. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Swaim Funeral Home of Dodge City. Burial will follow the mass at Holy Cross Cemetery in Windthorst.
