DODGE CITY- Harold L. Pennington, 91, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City. He was born on June 2, 1919 at Ingalls, the son of Charles and Ruth Edna (Gardner) Pennington.
Harold married Ethel Mae Batt on August 14, 1966 in Dodge City. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2001. They lived in Dodge City all of their married lives. He was employed with the Santa Fe Railroad as a ticket agent for thirty four years.
He was a member of First Assembly of God, Dodge City.
Survivors include one daughter Marlene Bamberger and husband Jeff, Dodge City, three stepsons, Alan Shaffer of Dodge City, Randy Shaffer of Littleriver, and Fred Wilson of Dodge City, two stepdaughters, Mary Gregory of El Dorado, Diana Moline of Manteca, California; two brothers, David Pennington and wife Rubie, Arkansas City, Ronnie Pennington and wife Sarah, Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Dorothy Wagner and husband Willis, Dallas, Texas; and Thelma Denton and husband Ed of Apple Valley, California. He is also survived by four grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Chester, and
one sister Viola.
Funeral service will be held at First Assembly of God, Dodge City, on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. David Graves presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City, with military rites provided by Howard Gotschall Post # 1714, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, December 26, 2010 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Memorials can be made to First Assembly of God, Dodge City, or the Harold L.
