HAROLD MILTON SKAGGS, JR.

Harold Milton Skaggs, Jr., 95, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. He was born November 4, 1914, Topeka, KS the son of Harold Milton and Virgelene (McPherson) Skaggs, Sr..

H. Milt graduated from Dodge City High School and Kansas State University. H. Milton married Gladys Mae Coffey on June 12, 1937. She preceded him in death on August 28, 2004. Mr. Skaggs served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and then returned to Dodge City in 1947 as a permanent resident. Mr. Skaggs retired from the military as a Lt. Colonel. H. Milton then became actively involved in the family Ford - Lincoln - Mercury auto dealership.

He was a member of St. Cornelius Episcopal Church, Area Chamber of Commerce and president of Dodge City Industrial Development Corportation, and Rotary Club all of Dodge City. H. Milton served on the board of directors of High Plains Dressed Beef of Dodge City, First National Bank of Dodge City, and the National Ford Dealer Advertising Association.

Mr. Skaggs is survived by one son, J. Milton Skaggs and wife Lynn of Dodge City; one daughter, Sherron S. McReynolds of Frisco, Texas; six grandchildren, Todd Skaggs, Amy (Skaggs) Staggs and husband Michael, Jeff McReynolds and wife Toni, Michael McReynolds and wife Kelly, Douglas McReynolds, Melissa (McReynolds) Hatzidakis and husband Armand; and ten great grandchildren, Cole and Kristen McReynolds, Matthew, Megan and Morgan McReynolds, Alexandra, Oliver and Theodore Hatzidakis, Collin and Lauren Elizabeth Staggs.

Funeral service will be held at St. Cornelius Episcopal Church in Dodge City on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dennis Zimmerman presiding. Private family entombment will follow at Scroggins Mausoleum in Dodge City. No public visitaion will be held but friends may sign the guest book at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday, June 14 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Memorials can be made to St. Cornelius Episcopal Church in care of Swaim Funeral Home - 1901 Sixth Avenue - Dodge City, KS 67801.
