DODGE CITY -- Harry (Butch) Virgil Hixon, 66, went to be with the Lord on Saturday March 28, 2026, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born March 11, 1960 in Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Harry Hixon and Delores Bernash. Butch attended High School at Dodge City High School. Throughout his life he worked in various jobs from farm work, CDL driving, and the cement business. He was known as a "Jack of All Trades" and even dabbled in entrepreneurship. He had a quick wit and a knack for making people laugh. He was known for his practical jokes and big personality. He was never happier than when making everyone in the room laugh at once. He possessed a 50-50 story-telling ratio: you could be sure 50% of every story was true. Butch could turn even a trip to the grocery store into a comedy routine.
The family he leaves behind include: daughter, Melissa Perkins and partner Jawn Fulton of Greensburg Kansas; grandsons, Gavin and Aidin Perkins; daughter, Heather Hixon and partner Rashawwn of Montezuma Kansas; granddaughters, Kaedynce "Kaedy", Melia, and Journee Hixon and Cassidy Jewell; brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Chely Hixon; sister, Tina Gerritzen; brother, Randy Hixon; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Melody Hixon. He has gone on to his next journey, reunited with his parents; his sister, Kathy Warkentin; and three nephews, Richard (Bubba) Hixon, Ryan Hixon, and William (Billy) Hixon.
Butch's time on earth has ended and cremation has taken place. Join us for a final tribute on Saturday April 11th, 2026 at 10:00 am at the First Christian Church, 711 5th Avenue, Dodge City, KS with Pastor Dusty Cookson presiding. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma. The family suggests memorials/donations to the family-payable to Heather Hixon.
