IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harvey
Koehn
April 10, 1955 – February 6, 2021
Montezuma - Harvey James Koehn was born on April 10, 1955 at Rancho La Tena, Chihuahua, Mexico to Sam C. and Iva Koehn. He quietly passed away at his home on February 6, 2021.
At the age of 3, he, together with his parents, made the big move to the United States and settled in at Galva. Harvey's childhood and school years were spent at Inman. He gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized in 1969, in the Church of God in Christ Mennonite.
About the year of 1985, Harvey moved with his parents to Ulysses. When his parents moved to Moundridge in1998, Harvey moved to Farwell, Texas. In 2011, he made one more move to Montezuma into one of the apartments next to Bethel Home.
Harvey had varied employments over the years but was known for being a reliable worker who was punctual every day. He was a big reader. He loved to learn about a wide variety of topics and could tell lots of history stories. He liked people and delighted in making a new friend. His years of working at Wal-Mart while living in Texas earned him many friends which he enjoyed. In later years, he often referred with fondness to his Bethel Home family.
In 1999, Harvey was drawn back to the Lord and renewed his covenant with God and the church. He described it as being a very wonderful time in his life. Harvey's simple approach to Christian living was an inspiration to others. Earthly wealth was not one of his goals but he strove to be at peace with his fellow man and with the Lord. He had a peace and resignation within leaving an assurance of his victory and future crown.
He leaves to mourn one sister, Judith Koehn; two nephews, Timothy Jenkins and Robin Jenkins; uncles, aunts and many cousins; his Bethel Home family; and brothers and sisters of the church. He is preceded in death by his parents and one baby sister, Caroline. The family expresses an appreciation to the Home Health of Bethel Home and the Bethel Home Community for their care and love.
Funeral service will be held at Zion Mennonite Church, Inman on Thursday February 11, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Zion Mennonite Cemetery.
