Obituary

ULYSSES - Helen E. Soelter, 91, died October 21, 2013 in her room at Asbury Park in Newton with her two sons and daughters-in-law at her side throughout the day. She was born on March 7, 1922 in Wamego, the daughter of Rasmus A. and Idell (Long) Miller.

Helen grew up in Valencia and graduated from Silver Lake High School and then from Clark School of Business in Topeka. She then went to work for the state of Kansas. In August 12, 1950, she married Glen H. Soelter at Danforth Chapel on the campus of the University of Kansas. Helen was an avid fan of the University of Kansas Jayhawks.

Helen is survived by two sons, Larry Beal and wife Judith of Hoyt and Gregory W. Soelter and wife Beth of Bel Aire; one brother, Glen E. Miller of Carrolton, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Soelter of Topeka; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Glen, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Soelter; and a grandson, Ryan Beal.

Memorial service will be held at Asbury Park Assisted Living Center, Greenhouse 405, in Newton on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Jay Anderson presiding. Burial will be at the Grant County Cemetery in Ulysses on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 4:00 PM with Pastor Sam Bynum presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
