Our beloved mother and cherished wife, Hermelinda Loya, departed this life on May 19, 2026, just days shy of her 79th birthday. Born on May 28, 1947, in Cienega de Loya, Chihuahua, Mexico, Hermelinda spent her formative years in a vibrant community steeped in rich customs and traditions, instilling in her a deep appreciation for family, culture, and the joy of gathering.

In 1996, she made the courageous decision to move to the United States, where she settled in Dodge City, Kansas. For nearly three decades, Hermelinda dedicated her remarkable work ethic to Cargill, where she contributed her talents for 19 years before retiring. Despite the demands of her job, she never lost her passion for cooking, which she viewed as a beautiful expression of love. The aroma of her cherished recipes filled her home, bringing family and friends together to share joyous moments around the dinner table.Hermelinda's zest for life was evident in her love for music and dancing. She often found her joy at the casinos, where she embraced the thrill of chance with laughter and spirit. She was a radiant soul who could light up any room with her infectious smile, and her warmth will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In this time of mourning, we celebrate Hermelinda for the love that she shared and the countless memories that will forever remain in our hearts. Her legacy of family, compassion, and joy will continue through the lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.

Hermelinda is survived by her husband, Laurentino Vasquez of Dodge City; five children, Vicky Ortiz and husband Alfonso of Dodge City, Noel Marquez and wife Guadalupe Montellano of Carlsbad, New Mexico; Lily Ruiz and husband Bely of Wichita, Martin Marquez of Olathe, and Marisela Marquez of Dodge City; siblings, Olga Loya and husband Agustin Falcon, Cecy Loya, Martina Valles and husband Serapio, Chevo Loya, Fermin Loya and wife Lucia; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ismael Marquez Loya; two grandsons, Daniel Marquez-Ortiz and Samuel Marquez; and five siblings, Gabriel, Gilardo, Saul, Abel, and Florentino Loya.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from noon to 5:00 PM at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, followed by a Rosary service at 7:00 PM at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City. A Mass celebrating Hermelinda's life will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Cathedral. Following the Mass, she will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.
