HEROLD EUGENE HARMS
Dodge City - Herold Eugene Harms, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at his home at the age of 78. He was born to Edward John Henry Harms and Vida Ellen (Wortman) Harms on May 24, 1935 at Dodge City, Kansas.
He worked for J-A-G Construction, as a truck driver, and mechanic. He also had been employed with Dodge City Sand Company. He worked up until he was the age of 74. He had lived most of his life in Dodge City, and was active in 4-H as a young man. On June 29, 1956, he married Golda Marion "Mary Ann" Clanton. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2013. In 1968, they spent four months in Idaho, before returning to Dodge City where they remained until their deaths. Herold was a very generous and hard working man, always willing to help another person. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was always tinkering on something. He adored all of his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Terry Harms, Dodge City; four daughters, Sherry Harms and Kim Williamson and husband Mike, both of Dodge City; Brenda Patton, Knoxville, Tennessee; Angela Solis and husband Ricardo, Littleton, Colorado; one sister, Eula Seltzer,Offerle; one brother Eddie Harms, Dodge City; eleven grandchildren, Billy Hixon, Ryan Hixon, Amy Kreger and husband Brandon, Jordan Williamson, Breckyn Williamson, Nicolas Harms, and Alexandra Harms all of Dodge City, Joseph and Andrew Patton, Knoxville, Tennessee; Natalia and Cristian Solis, Littleton, Colorado; ten great grandchildren,Daisha Price, Hunter, Hayden and Abby Hixon, Sierra Isenbart, Jasper, Cian and Xander Kreger, Skylar Hixon, and Brooklyn Rebein.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Ellen Harms, and Elda Pyle, and three brothers, Charles Henry, David, and Bobby Harms.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Herold E. Harms Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
