Sublette - Howard Trahern, 93, died January 31, 2014 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He was born on January 13, 1921 on the family farm south of Sublette in the Banner Community, the son of Andrew M. and Millie (Pohling) Trahern.

Howard was a lifetime resident of Sublette, spending his childhood years in the Banner Community. He graduated from Sublette High School in 1938. On January 13, 1941, he married Georgia Wiswell in Sublette. They shared life together for over 63 years before Georgia passed away on December 15, 2004. Howard farmed south of Sublette until his retirement. He and Georgia enjoyed traveling together. Howard also enjoyed attending the local ballgames.

He was a member of the Sublette Christian Church.

Howard is survived by one sister, LaVone Richie of Flagler, Colorado; one brother-in-law, Darrell Wiswell and wife Jennie of Sublette; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives. In addition to his wife, Georgia, Howard is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

Funeral service will be held at Sublette Christian Church on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor David Erwin presiding. Burial will follow at Banner Cemetery in rural Seward County. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from noon to 8:00 P.M..
