Ida Burdue, born in Dodge City, KS, on April 25, 1952, was a beacon of empathy, compassion, and unconditional love. She spent her life dedicated to the service and support of others, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of crossing her path. In the words of Maya Angelou, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Ida embodied this sentiment, leaving an unforgettable legacy of love and kindness.A resident of Lincoln, Nebraska, Ida was a retired mail supplier, a role she filled with dedication and pride. Outside of her professional life, she was a homemaker in the truest sense of the word. Her baking and cooking, often gifted to others, were renowned and brought warmth and comfort to many. Over their 56 years of marriage, Ida and her beloved husband, Brian, opened their hearts and home to numerous foster children in Lincoln, providing a nurturing and loving environment. Ida helped her mother and father raise her eight brothers and was a loving aunt to her nephews and nieces. Her empathetic and compassionate nature was what made her the glue that held her family and their history together.Ida is survived by her husband, Brian Burdue; brother-in-law, Jack Burdue; brothers, Greg, Sam, Gary, and Carlos Andrews, and their respective partners, Jodi, Charla, and Dalene Andrews; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Sarah Andrews; son, Charles Burdue; brothers, Pete, Ralph, Tommy, and John Andrews; and nephews, Anthony, Tadd, and Nick Andrews; best friend, Tola Cebellos. We remember and honor Ida, not just for her achievements but for the supportive, loving person she was. As Mother Teresa once said, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Ida's life was a testament to the transformative power of small acts of kindness and love.A visitation for Ida will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 1:00pm CDT at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 5200 R Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68504. A graveside service will be on March 28th, 2026 at 9:30am at Maple Grove Cemetery; 2350 Matt Down Lane, Dodge City Kansas. The graveside service will be led by Father Wesley Schawe.We encourage all who knew Ida to honor her life by sharing memories and uploading photos to her memorial page.
