Ida Louise Kreger, 87, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Protection Valley Manor in Protection. She was born on January 31, 1923 at Garden City the daughter of Edward William and Mary L. (Schlereth) Stapleton.
Mrs. Kreger spent her childhood in Hodgeman County and attended rural schools. She married Ernest William Kreger on October 5, 1939 at Dodge City. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1984. Ernest and Ida ran a farm and dairy in Hodgeman County.
She was a member of Cathedral Of Our Lady Of Guadalupe and had attended Sacred Heart Cathedral both of Dodge City.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Kreger and wife Vae and Richard Kreger both of Jetmore; two brothers, Walter Stapleton of Jetmore and Henry Stapleton of Dodge City; ten grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Leon Kreger; three brothers, Alexander Stapleton, Elmer Stapleton and George Stapleton; and two sisters, Lucille Houser and Eileen Lee.
Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, October 8, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Vigil Service will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral on Friday October 8, 2010 at 7:00 PM.
