Dodge City - Imogene "Jean" Weece, 82, died February 19, 2014 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on September 4, 1931 at Shawnee, Oklahoma the daughter of Dewey and Sarah (Jones) Taylor.
Jean grew up in Shawnee, Oklahoma. On October 17, 1954 she married Donald M. Weece at Pueblo, Colorado. They then moved to Cimarron for a few years and came to Dodge City in 1957. Jean ran Jean's Country Gifts inside Weece Furniture Store in Dodge City for many years. She was an avid doll collector and loved gardening and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City and the Happy Partners Sunday Class.
Imogene is survived by her husband Don M. Weece of the home; five children; Michael Weece and wife Cindy, Topeka, Kay Seacat and husband Roger, Dodge City, Mark Weece and wife Mary of Sanford, Florida, Randy Weece and wife Suzanne, Ft. Smith, Arkansas and David Weece, Dodge City; grandchildren, Branddon Weece, Kristin Thomas, Danielle Artzer, Shelly Sloan, Tracy Salzman, Heidi Rosario, Erik Weece, Stephanie Weece, Audrey Weece and Erin Weece; 8 great grandchildren and one due March 14th.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church, Dodge City on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with Mr. Leon Weece and Mr. Gene Weece presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Friday, February 21, 2014 from Noon to 8:00 P.M. with family recieving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M..
