IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ina Jean
Hinderliter
December 2, 1932 – October 11, 2021
COPELAND - God has called an angel to heaven on October 11, 2021. Ina Jean Whetzel Hinderliter was born on December 2, 1932, and was the daughter of John T. and Lottie Whetzel of Kingman, Kansas. She attended school in Kingman, and college in Columbia, Missouri. In 1951, she married Paul Hinderliter, her high school sweetheart and they resided in Kansas City until moving to Goddard to start a family. In 1965, they moved to Copeland Kansas. Jean was a daycare provider, taking care of many children who turned into family over the years. She loved gardening and baking pies. Jean was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed watching the Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas City Royals, and Kansas City Chiefs. She loved angels and kept her angel tree up year-round.
She was a member of the Atomera Club, Red Hats, and a devout member of the First United Methodist Church. She went on missionary trips and was proud to have been baptized in the Holy Land. Jean loved helping others. In 2003, she became a Hospice volunteer, and was recognized as Hospice Volunteer of the Year in 2006. Jean created the Butterfly Memorial Garden located at Hospice of St. Catherine Hospital. The garden helps bring comfort to those touched by loss. Jean was an Avon Representative for years, often taking her grandchildren with her on deliveries, creating memories with customers that turned into family.
Jean is survived by her four children, Sandy (Calvin) Koehn of Copeland, John (Shelly) Hinderliter of Dodge City, Dick (Trudy) Hinderliter of Lenexa, and Debby (Marty) Holuska of Lancaster, 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hinderliter, parents John and Lottie Whetzel, and brother Alan Whetzel.
