Dodge City – Ingeborg "Inge" Amelia Johnson, 93, passed away August 15, 2021 at her home in Dodge City. She was born on August 12, 1928 at Koblenz, Germany the daughter of Andreaus and Amelia Karbach.
Inge married Samuel D. Gill on July 13, 1951 in Wiesbaden, Germany, he preceded her in death on January 12, 1990. Inge later married Don Johnson on December 2, 1990 in Dodge City, he survives. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School at her church. Inge loved to travel vistiting various place around the United States as well as traveling to Hawaii, French Polynesian Islands and her homeland of Germany. Inge was a very intelligent lady speaking German, French and English fluently. Inge faced many hard times I her younger years of life. She remembered about walking across Germany wearing out several pair of shoes just to stay ahead of the fighting during the war and hiding in various place to avoid capture by the German military.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Golden Hairs all of Dodge City.
She is survived by her husband Don of the home; one son Micah of Florida; one daughter Michelle Ludt and husband Walter of Mississippi; brother-in-law Wayne Johnson and wife Virginia of Texas; two sister-in-laws Clara Betterton of Ulysses and Mary Johnson of Dodge City. She is also survived by three grandchildren and four great grandchildren as well as four brothers and one sister and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and six siblings.
Funeral service will be held at Church of Christ on Thursday August 19, 2021 at 10:00 AM with Mr. Gary Bennett presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, August 18, 2021from 12:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Church of Christ or Hospice of the Prairie in care of the funeral home. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
