Dodge City - Isabel Burr Woodruff, 95, died May 14, 2011 at Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City. She was born on October 5, 1915 at Dodge City, the daughter of Hiram T. and Olive G. (Meers) Burr.
Isabel was raised in Dodge City and graduated from Dodge City High School in 1933. She then attended Baker Univerersity and later graduated from Louisiana State University in 1937. On June 18, 1941 she married James L. Woodruff in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2002. They lived in Denver, Colorado from 1942 to 1949 and returned to Dodge City where she has lived since.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Chapter DZ of P.E.O both of Dodge City, Tri Delta Sorority of Baker Univsity and Phi Upsilon Omicron Sorority of L.S.U.
Mrs. Woodruff is survived by a son J. Mark Woodruff of Clay Center, a daughter J. Lynne Riley of Cedar Park, Texas; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a sister Helen Davies.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home of Dodge City on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 10:30 A.M . Inurnment will follow at Scroggins Memorial Mausoleum at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the Special Care Unit of Good Samaritan Center or to First United Methodist Church both in care of the funeral home.
