Dodge City - Isaiah Cervantes, 16, died June 23, 2023 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on January 18, 2007 in Dodge City, the son of Josiah Cervantes and Felicia (Faulkner) Gallegos.
Isaiah had recently completed his sophomore year at Dodge City High School where he was active in the JROTC program. In the past few weeks, Isaiah received his driver's license and had started his first job at B & B Theatres in Dodge City.
A fun charismatic teen, Isaiah loved spending time with his family and friends. Movie nights with his dad, listening to music with his mom, and hanging out with his brother and sisters were all things Isaiah enjoyed. Family vacations were special times as well. His infectious smile and outgoing personality will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Isaiah was a member of Dodge City First Christian Church where he was very active in the youth ministry and worship team.
He is survived by his father, Josiah Cervantes of Dodge City; mother and step-father, Felicia and Lorenzo Gallegos of Dodge City; siblings, Kaedy Hixon of Montezuma, Landon Charles, Lyrik Gallegos, and Cora Gallegos all of Dodge City; grandmothers, Roxanna Cervantes of Hugoton and Maria Franco of Dodge City; aunts, Tracy Johnson of Liberal, Niki Cervantes of Deer Island, Maine, Edali Ratzlaff of Phillipsburg, and Jessica Faulkner of Dodge City; uncle, Ulises Franco of Dickinson, North Dakota; and many extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, William Cervantes and Ira Faulkner.
Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church, Dodge City on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Dusty Cookson presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church for church camp scholarships or to the JROTC program at Dodge City High School in care of the funeral home.
