IVAN E. WILSON

Cimarron - Ivan E. Wilson, 76, died January 5, 2014 at his home in Cimarron. He was born on August 16, 1937 at Cimarron, the son of Willis A. and Iva Irene (Sells) Wilson Sr.

A lifetime resident of Cimarron, he was a graduate of Cimarron High School and attended Emporia State Teachers College. He married Venetta Elaine Flowers on November 22, 1956 at Cimarron. She preceded him in death on June 3, 1975. He married Jody Flowers Flake on October 2, 1976 at Cimarron.

Ivan worked as a policeman, city superintendent, and city clerk for Cimarron for thirty two years. He retired May 1, 2000.

He was a member of the Cimarron United Methodist Church, served as a city councilman, and was a volunteer for Gray County Emergency Medical Services for over forty years.

Survivors include his wife, Jody Wilson, Cimarron, one son, Kent Wilson and wife Shirley, Marion, Iowa; one daughter, Krista Wilson Monical and husband Jeff, Cimarron, stepsons, Aaron Flake and companion Wynona Holdeman, Cimarron, Alex Flake and wife Tracy, Wichita, and Anson Flake and wife Katie, Enola, Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis A. and Iva Irene Sells Wilson Sr., one daughter, Karla Wilson Housman, two brothers, Keith Wilson and Willis A. Wilson, Jr.and one sister, Edna Wilson Fisher.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Cimarron United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Keating presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Cimarron, on Wednesday January 8, 2014 from noon to 8:00 P.M. .
