J. Frances (Sutton) Wilburn, 95, died Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Golden Plains Heath Care Center in Hutchinson. She was born on November 14, 1913 in Rice County, the daughter of John Franklen and Daisy Drane (Croker) Sutton.
At the age of three, she moved to Greensburg, where she lived until 1928. Frances then moved to Ensign with her family. She married Merle Faye Spencer and they later divorced. On July 3, 1943, she married Raymond M. Wilburn. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1984. They lived in Hutchinson for 26 years before retiring to Dodge City in 1981.
She was a member of the First Christian Church at Greensburg.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Beverly J. McIver of Pueblo, Colorado and a sister, Rhoda Lesley of Dodge City. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, numerous neices and nephews as well as many friends. In addition to her husband, Frances was preceded in death by her son, Merle Duane Spencer; four sisters; one brother; and one son-in-law.
Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 from noon to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
