DODGE CITY - Jacob "Jake" Sorch, 80, died September 3, 2012 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. He was born on April 11, 1932 at Sterling, Colorado the son of John and Maria (Lie) Sorch.

On June 17, 1983 he married Marietta Allison in Sterling, Colorado. Jake worked for Scheberle's Jewelry Store repairing watches and clocks for 23 years. He later worked for Dale's Jewelry until he retired.

Jacob requests those who would have come to a funeral, to please spend your traveling funds on creating a happy memory with those you love! It was his desire others reflect on God providing us an eternal home in Heaven, by giving His only Son to die in our place, for our sin, and it is a free gift to all who will accept Jesus as their Savior, See John 3:16.

He was a member of the Grace Communtiy Church of Dodge City.

Jacob is survived by his wife, Marietta Sorch of Dodge City; two step-sons, Bill Brown and wife Sondra of Dodge City and Dave Brown and wife Kandy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Robin Brown of Woodward, Oklahoma; one sister, Esther Kress of Colorado. Numerous other relatives including step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive.He was preceded in death his parents, one brother, and nine sisters.

Funeral service will be held at Grace Communtiy Church on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Kirk Larson presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from noon to 8:00 PM.
