Ft. Dodge - Jim Irvine Brown, 81, died on July 13, 2022 at the Kansas Soldiers Home at Ft. Dodge. He was born on April 8, 1941 to Donald and Wanda Brown of Rochester NY. He was the older brother of Thomas Brown.
Jim attended Courtland College where he met his wife Leda (Campbell). He was drafted into the United States Army, became an Airborne Ranger, and served as a Battery Commander in Vietnam, earning a bronze star for valor. His association with the military lasted for over 50 years. As a premier Sports Program Director, he built Soldier morale and a positive competitive environment with a connection to worldwide communities. Jim officiated at two Olympics and several world championships. He even led the Army's competitors in the Greek Marathon.
Jim's love of travel had him visiting over 40 countries in his lifetime. He built relationships spanning the globe. He is remembered for his service, organization skills, and love of family.
Jim is survived by his wife Leda, Sons Will and wife Amie, Joe and wife Sharon and Grandchildren, Jeffery and wife Melissa, Raven, Nicholas and wife Haley, Gavin, Molly, and Candance.
