DODGE CITY - James Michael Creevey, 81, died May 28, 2016 at Trinity Manor Nursing Home, Dodge City. He was born on July 14, 1934 at Dodge City, the son of James Thomas and Audrey (West) Creevey.
James was a graduate of Pittsburg State University. He married Glennis Hargett in Montezuma. Jim taught school in Sublette and for 12 years at Wilroads Gardens. He worked for Farmland Industries for 26 years before retiring. James enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, photography, KU Basketball and DCCC Softball.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dodge City.
Jim is survived by a daughter, Dana Dodge of Garden City; a son, Sean Creevey of Dodge City; three grandchildren, Carly Kennedy and husband Chad of Topeka, Chuck Dodge and wife Mary of Joplin, Missouri, and Emily Sexson and husband Kyle of Garden City; and one great grandson, Nikolas Kennedy of Topeka. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Joseph Creevey and brother, Harless Creevey.
Funeral service will be held at the First Missionary Church on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Jeff Turner presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from Noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association or Diabetes Foundation both in care of the funeral home.
