Obituary

James Edwin "Ed" Killian, 64, died November 9, 2014 at HPH Hospice Respite Center in Spring Hill, Florida, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 7, 1950 at Dodge City, KS the son of James Lewis and Yuvonne Roseta (Gabbert) Killian .

He attended Dodge City Schools and was a Red Demon from 1965 to 1968. He also attended Wichita Vocational Technical College from 1968 to 1969, before returning to attend Dodge City Community College from 1969 to 1970. Mr. Killian married Marylu Gibbons on April 30, 1971in Dodge City, they later divorced. He worked as a Yard Foreman for McKinley Winter Livestock from 1969 to 1980. Mr. Killian helped with the construction of Cargill and worked as a yard foreman before being placed in charge of procurement. Mr. Killian also owned Boothill Tank Tenders, Armor Shield of Dodge City, Beard Brothers and Pantex Trucking.

He moved to Lake Jackson, Texas and Brazoria, Texas before retiring in April of 2007 in Spring Hill, Florida.

He is survived by a daughter Sarah Randall and husband Steve of Dodge City; son James "Jim" Killian and wife Lynsi of Vancouver, Washington. He is also survived by his grandchildren Dominic and Joseph Randall, Wrenly Killian, and Erin's children Justice Heard and Sarah and McKenzie Fotis. Mr. Killian is also survived by a sister Marie Kerbs McGinley and husband Scott of Wichita; his companion Patty Miller of Spring Hill, Florida and best friends Ray and Rosie Barnes of El Paso, Texas and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Erin Killian one brother Rod Killian, both of his parents and a niece Clara Gibbons.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
