Obituary

CIMARRON - James G. "Jim" Lacy, 74, died May 6, 2021 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita.  He was born on July 3, 1946 at Dodge City, the son of Keith Willis and Dorothy (Whitmer) Lacy.

Jim grew up in Cimarron and attended Cimarron Schools. He joined the US Navy serving during the Vietnam War. After the service he returned to Cimarron and on May 17, 1969 married Janet Grasser at Ingalls. Jim was a plant engineer for Excel/Cargill for many years in Dodge City and later Amarillo, Texas retiring in 2005. He enjoyed the outdoors where he could be found hunting or fishing. Jim loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking outside on the grill and was considered a grill master. Jim was also very competitive especially during a game of cards or dominoes.

He was a member of the North Beacon Church of the Nazarene of Amarillo, Texas.

Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet Lacy of Meade; a son, Lance Lacy and wife Celeste of Cimarron; a daughter, Charolett Murrow and husband John of Ford; a daughter-in-law, Tammi Woods and husband Dusty of Cimarron; a nephew, Justin Lacy of Cimarron; 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, four brothers, Keith Lacy and wife Jan of Fort Collins, Colorado, Casey Lacy and wife Kay of Fort Garland, Colorado, Jack Lacy and wife Kristi of Garber, Oklahoma and Kelly Lacy and wife Susan of Eaton, Colorado; three sisters, Lee Ayers and husband Don of Sharron Springs, Kyleen Lacy and Lori Lacy both of Cimarron, and sister-in-law, Margaret Lacy of Garden City.He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jimmy Lacy; and one brother, Joe Lacy.

Memorial service will be held at the Gray County Recreation Center, Cimarron on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 10:00 AM.  Burial will follow at the Cimarron Cemetery with full military honors by US Navy Honor Guard and Howard Gotschall Post #1714, V.F.W. military honors.
