Dodge City - James (Jim) Robert Allen, 75, died June 16, 2021 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.  He was born on July 13, 1945 in Belleflower, California, the son of Horace J. and Vivian B. (Tucker) Allen.

When Jim was three, the family moved from California to Dodge City. Jim graduated from Dodge City High School in 1963.  He attended Dodge City Community College for one year before being drafted into the United States Army.  He was sent to Viet Nam where he served from 1965-1967.  After he was honorably discharged, Jim returned to Dodge City where he married Kay Dewey at Central Christian Church.  After their marriage, they made their home in Dodge where they raised two daughters.  Jim worked for Curtis Machine for 40 years before retiring. In 2008, Jim and Kay moved to Vassar.  Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.  He also loved attending his grandchildren's activities.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kay of Vassar; two daughters, Stacy Swift and husband Pat of Cottonwood Falls and Dena Rueb and husband Mike of Dodge City; five grandchildren, Garrett Swift of Strong City, Trenton Swift and wife Alex of Strong City, Bailee Swift of Lawrence, Kayla Coghill and husband Chris of Cimarron, and Alexander Ramirez and wife Katie of Rochester Minnesota; and eight great grandchildren, Kenlee Swift, Jaxon Swift, Ethan Frank, Norah Coghill, Evan Coghill, Vivanne Coghill, Cortez Ramirez, and Trey Ramirez.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church, Dodge City on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Dusty Cookson presiding.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from noon to 8:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to the Ford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
