Janice Lorene (Green) Stout, 79, died Friday, July 2, 2010 at Meade District Hospital in Meade. She was born on January 25, 1931 at Central City, Nebraska, the daughter of Fred H. and Mildred(Beach)Green.
Mrs. Stout graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, California. She served in the U.S. Navy Reserves during the Korean War. Janice married Lee G. Stout, Jr. on May 16, 1953 in Reno, Nevada. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1990. They moved to Dodge City in 1961, to New Mexico in 1971, moved back to Dodge City in 1975 and she moved to Meade in 1996. Janice enjoyed singing with the Golden Notes and playing the piano. She also enjoyed baking, sewing, and crocheting.
Mrs. Stout was a member of the United Methodist Church of Meade and a past memeber of First Christian Church of Dodge City. She was also a lifetime member of D.A.V. Auxillary and a member of the Ladies Guild-UMC of Meade.
Janice is survived by two sons: Robert B. Stout of Independance, Missouri and Lee "Skip" Stout and wife Jan of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; four daughters: Vickie M. Hawkes and husband Skie of Pryor, Oklahoma, Diana Fowler of Hillsboro, Oregon, Cindy McCammond and husband Carl of Meade, and Laurie Barb and husband Scott of Ness City; 17 grandchildren: Jason, Charity, Mikkinnzie, C.J., Hannah, and Noah Stout; Tres and Chad Hawkes; Toni Roberts; Barbara Jean Hawkes; Sheryl, Bobby Dean (B.J.) and Veronica (Roni) Fowler; Tara and Kaitlin McCammond; Shawn Woods; and Shannon Pfannenstiel; 15 great granchildren: Aaron Moore; Ashley, Cade, and Camree Hawkes; Ty Heist; Caitlynn and Payton Heathcock; Chase, and Kason Dean Fowler; Madison McCammond; and Zane, Zoey, Zerik, Zayden, and Drake Woods; and one brother, Fred Green and wife Kathy of Arizona. In addition to her husband Lee, Janice was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert.
Funeral service will be held at United Methodist Church of Meade on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Susan Greene presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City, on Monday, July 5, 2010 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The casket will also be opened at the church from noon until service time on Tuesday, July 6, 2010.
