Dodge City - With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Janie Denise De Leon, a beloved figure known for her generous spirit and vibrant personality, on February 10, 2024, at her residence in Dodge City, at the age of 65. Born on February 2, 1959, in Lubbock, Texas, Janie was the cherished daughter of Avalino and Juanita Costancio De Leon, whose legacy she carried forward with grace and resilience.

Janie's life was a testament to her kindness, as she was always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need, embodying selflessness even when she herself had little to spare. Her compassionate nature was matched by an adventurous spirit—a reflection of her days as a spirited biker chick who found joy and freedom on the open road atop her motorcycle. Janie's zest for life was also evident in her love for thrift shopping, a hobby through which she expressed her unique style and flair.

Her legacy is carried on by her devoted significant other, Victor Sabala; her loving children, Susana Maria De Leon and Victor Sabala, Jr.; and her caring siblings, Alfred "Guero" Flores, Gloria De Leon, and Avalino De Leon, Jr.; as well as a niece she raised as a daughter, Angela VanWort.  Janie's memory is also cherished in the hearts of numerous relatives and friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity. She reunites in eternity with her beloved parents, Avalino and Juanita De Leon; her dear child, Prentis Douglas, Jr.; and her siblings, Eduardo Flores, Mary Lou De Leon and Louisa De Leon Perez, who preceded her in passage.

A memorial service to celebrate Janie's remarkable life will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM, with Karina Tuchez presiding, where family, friends, and those whose lives were touched by Janie are invited to share in remembrance and reflection. In keeping with her wishes, Janie will be cremated, and a private burial of her ashes will be conducted at Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date, allowing her loved ones a personal moment to bid farewell.
