She was a member of several philanthropic organizations such as PEO and Philomath and was active for more than 50 years in the Dodge City United Methodist Church. She was awarded the Dodge City Chamber of Commerce's Athena service award in 1997. As a breast cancer survivor, she helped found the Circle of Hope cancer support group that continues to serve the community. She always enjoyed a round of golf, her bridge club groups and watching her beloved Kansas Jayhawks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her brother Kenneth Shannon and in-laws Everett and Helen Call and one niece. She is survived by her 3 children along with 6 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Marjorie Shannon and 5 nieces & nephews.
