JEAN IONE BONE
Dodge City - Jean Ione Bone, 82, died May 6, 2014 at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She was born on August 14, 1931 in Dodge City, the daughter of Charley and Thelma (Gunkle) Holtfrerich.
Jean was a graduate of Dodge City High School and married her high school sweetheart, John Grant Bone, Jr. on July 7, 1949. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2009. After their marriage, they lived in Dodge City until 1962 when they moved to Sublette where Jean was a homemaker until her children were raised. She served as the librarian for the Haskell County Library. After John's retirement, they moved back to Dodge City and Jean enjoyed many years with her church family and friends as a member of the Church of Christ of Dodge City.
Jean is survived by one son, Brad Bone of Wichita; two daughters, Linda Stewart and husband Ed of Dodge City and Lianna Dobbins and husband Randy of Thomas, Oklahoma; three brothers, Elwood Holtfrerich of Dodge City, Maurice Holtfrerich of Tempe, Arizona, and Gordon Holtfrerich of Dodge City; two sisters, Carol Scullawl of Port Orchard, Washington and Karen Horst of Holiday Island, Arkansas; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.In addition to her husband John, Jean is preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Gebhart.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. with Gary L. Bennett presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 12:00 - 8:00 P.M. Memorials are suggested to the Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
