Jean C. Holsten, 88, died July 18, 2014 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on April 14, 1926 at Nekoma, the daughter of Ernie and Myrl Gabbert (Murrah) .
She married Charles Hink on June 4, 1944. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1973. She later married Louis Holsten on December 28, 1976 in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1992. Mrs. Holsten enjoyed going to the lake , camping, fishing, and playing cards. She was very passionate about spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved making peppernuts with them.
She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Dodge City.
She is survived by a son Chuck Hink and wife Lee Ann of Dodge City; two daughters Patty Herrman and husband John of Dodge City; Joyce Harper and husband David of Mcloud, Oklahoma. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Anita Jean Hink and three sisters and one brother.
Funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Randall Jahnke presiding. Burial will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 12:00 to 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Lutheran Hour or Manor Of The Plains in care of the funeral home.
