Dodge City - Jean Elaine Kephart, 75, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Western Plains Medical Complex at Dodge City. She was born on December 23, 1933 at Ford, Kansas, the daughter of Jesse R. and Veda Lucille (Davis) Taylor. She grew up in Ford and graduated from Ford High School and later she attended Dodge City Community College. In 1955 she married Donald Lee Kephart. He Survives. Mrs. Kephart worked as a nurse for Trinity Hospital of Dodge City in the 1960's and later she worked at Good Samaritan Center. She retired in 1988.

Jean was a member of Christ The King Lutheran Church of Dodge City.
Survivors include her husband Donald Lee Kephart of Winfield; three sons, Steven Kephart of Dallas, Texas, Cameron Kephart and Mark Kephart both of Dodge City; a daughter Jan Simmons of Dodge City; a sister Joyce West of Montrose, New York; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Gib Botten presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2009 from 11:00 AM to Noon. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorials can be made to Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
