Dodge City – Jean I. Lantis, 105, died June 24, 2023 at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City.  She was born on January 14, 1918 at Blue Rapids, Kansas the daughter of David Armstrong Irvine and Julie Alice (Death) Irvine.

Mrs. Lantis graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1936. At the beginning of WWII, she moved to San Diego and worked for the University of California, Division of War Research until moving back to Kansas in 1955. She married Bob Lantis in 1957 and worked with him in the cattle and thoroughbred horse business until his death in 1997.

She was a member of the St. Cornelius Episcopal Church, Salvation Army Advisory Board and Women's Auxiliary, Chapter CF P.E.O.

She is survived by two step granddaughters Patricia Mueller and Barbara Basel and three step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Bob.

Graveside service will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery on Wednesday June 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Jose Juan Bernal presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to St. Cornelius Episcopal Church or The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary  in care of the funeral home.
