Obituary

Jennie Orrinne Winsor of Dodge City died on May 16, 2026 at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City, Kansas. Orrinne was born on October 4, 1935, in Cimarron, Kansas, the third child of Leroy and Jennie (Hickman) Zimmerman.

She graduated from Montezuma High School in 1954. She started to work for Western Light & Telephone Company a week after she graduated and worked there for 18 years. She met Roy Winsor in Dodge City and they were married June 15, 1957, at the Church of Christ in Raton, New Mexico. To this union one son, Douglas, was born. She later worked for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment as office assistant and later secretary, for 25 years retiring on January 1, 2000.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Dodge City and enjoyed her church family. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Orrinne was known to love animals and always had a dog. She was a huge KU Jayhawks basketball fan. Overall, the highlight of her life was attending her two great grandson's sporting events.

Orrinne was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years on January 8, 2006; her parents; Roy's parents, Elmer and Viola Winsor; sister and brother-in-law, Joline and Don Nuss; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Dorothy Zimmerman; her special friend, Larry Yaeger; and her beloved dog, Molly. Orrinne is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Carol Winsor of Montezuma; granddaughter and husband Amy and Greg Thompson of Spearville; and great- grandsons, Cooper and Kade Thompson; nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
