Obituary

Montezuma - Jennifer Lyn (Zimmerman) Martinez was born on June 21, 1975, to Maurice Carl & Jima Lynne Zimmerman in Corpus Christi, Texas. She passed away in the early morning hours of January 3, 2024, at her home in Montezuma, Kansas.

Jennifer grew up in Corpus Christi with three younger sisters. She attended Flour Bluff schools until 9th grade. After that, she gained her high school diploma through a charter school. Jennifer met the love of her life, Eddie

Martinez, when she was sixteen. They moved to El Campo, Texas, and were married there on September 25, 1992. Three children were born to them: Alexis Nickole, Jacob Robles, and Megan Renae.

After her children grew a little older, Jennifer furthered her education and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked several years at Bethel Home in Montezuma, after moving to Kansas. Jennifer was known to be a fierce protector of her loved ones. We all knew what it meant when we said, "I'm gonna tell Jennifer." All of us who knew and loved her realized she didn't always make the right or best decisions in life. These led her to some dark low times. But we also knew her as an over-comer, and that she wanted to do what was right.

Jennifer's health began to decline several years ago. She was unable to get a proper diagnosis and suffered much because of this. Her death was a result of systemic sclerosis, which caused multiple organ failure. Shortly before she became unresponsive, Jennifer answered God's call and gave her heart to Him. So with rejoicing, but aching hearts, we commit her into His hands. We are so thankful for His faithful love to her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Eddie; daughter, Alexis Martinez and partner, Stevon Willis, with grandchildren,  Aralyn Grace (10), Zander James (8), Jeremiah Reese (6), and Avery Gwen (2); son, Jacob and wife Jennifer; daughter, Megan Martinez with grandchildren Remington Roy (6) and Anniston Kate (2); mother, Jima Zimmerman; sisters: Charity and husband Presley Koehn, Carla and husband Gerald Schmidt, and Krysta Koehn; nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jacie Sellers. She was preceded in death by her dad; niece, Kayla Gwen Schmidt; and brother-in-law, Roland Koehn.
