DODGE CITY - Jerry Longton, 75, died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. He was born on November 23, 1934 at Dodge City the son of Gerald E. and Zola Mae (Adams) Longton.
Jerry grew up in rural Gray County and attended Cimarron Schools. He graduated high school in California. Jerry joined the US Air Force serving as a crew chief. On November 6, 1960 he married Carol Osborn at Dodge City. Jerry was a farmer and they made their home in Dodge City. He enjoyed helping others, woodworking, morning coffee with his friends, and hunting in the mountains of Colorado. Jerry also enjoyed his grandkids and attending their activities.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Dodge City.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol Longton of Dodge City; four daughters, Deborah Longton, Barbara Norton and husband Kevin, and Jan Longton all of Dodge City and Beverly Weber and husband Rick of Waukomis, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; Eric and Zach Norton of Dodge City and Shelby, Reid and Rhett Weber of Waukomis, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by parents.
Funeral service will be held at the First Christian Church, Dodge City on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Mr. Phil Scott and Mr. Larry Williams presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from Noon to 8:00 PM.
