Obituary

Dodge City - Jerry Vincent Martinez Jr., 50, died June 24, 2024 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita.  He was born on August 6, 1973 in Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Jerry Martinez and Victoria Chacon.

Jerry attended Abundant Life Family Church. He was a great man with a great heart. He always made an impression on people. Always had a positive attitude and found the good in every situation. If someone was negative he wouldn't stop until they changed their mind. He will be remembered by his smile. He was always there for people and didn't know a stranger. There was never a dull moment with Jerry. He was very much a people person. Most of all he was a family man. He loved his family; especially his grandbabies and his friends became family too. He called himself Super Dad and would say, "Have no fear, Super Dad is here." He also loved his pets, Brownie and Bella. He was an Eastsider. He never forgot where he came from and enjoyed taking cruises to the East Side. Jerry enjoyed many things in life. He loved music and he loved to be in the kitchen cooking and baking. Any family event he had he was excited to make food for. He considered himself a traveling soldier. He loved to travel and drive. When he went on a trip he would leave in the middle of the night to be able to drive through less traffic on the highway. If you knew him you know that he was a huge Raiders fan; that was his team and he would make it known.  Jerry was a very hard worker. He would always help out even if he was tired. He always had to have his yard looking sharp and it had to be done a certain way. He took pride in his yard and his home. He was very wise with money and very responsible. He was caring and loving. Jerry was a fighter; he was very strong. He was getting to where he wanted to be and was at a good place in life. Many people were proud of him and the man he had become. He was very loved and respected for changing his life for the better. His biggest mission in life was to leave himself a good name, and he achieved that.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patrice Rodriguez; children, Christopher Bryton Martinez, Ciara Valadez, Lydia Valadez, and Sabian Valadez; grandchildren, Aryana Carrillo, Maya Carrillo, Jr. Carrillo, and Ailiani Valadez; father, Jerry Martinez (Elvira) of Dodge City; siblings, Bridget Perez of Dodge City, Mike Mariche of Dodge City, Marty Martinez of Dodge City, Viviana Villegas of Liberal, JR Martinez of Dodge City; Nick Villegas of Lawrence, and Valentin Chacon of Dodge City; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Victoria Chacon; a brother, Jesus "Chito" Flores; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
