Obituary

Dodge City - Jesse G. Ontiberos, Jr., 71, died December 16, 2013 at the V.A. Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on September 13, 1942 at Dodge City, KS the son of Jess G. and Mary (Sanchez) Ontiberos.

He married Sharon Clare on September 13, 1989 in Woodward, Oklahoma, she survives. Mr. Ontiberos was a avid baseball player and also loved to compete in any sporting event. He attended all Veterans Wheelchair games, winning many awards in many different categories. He also enjoyed watching his nephews play football. Mr. Ontiberos was inducted into the Mexican American Hall of Fame and also the Fast Pitch Hall of Fame in 2011. He loved collecting marbles.

He was a member of the of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home, his mother Mary Ontiberos of Dodge City; two sons Jesse Ontiberos III of Ft. Forth, Texas; Aaron Ontiberos of Hazelwood, Missouri; a daughter Regina Ontiberos of Dodge City; two step sons Roger Konrade of Russell; Richard Konrade of Bucklin; two step daughters Carol Aguilar of Wichita; Sheri Konrade of Bucklin; six brothers Frank Ontiberos and wife Sandy of Dodge City; George Ontiberos and wife Madeline of Wichita; Bob Ontiberos of Wichita; Fred Ontiberos of Dodge City; Johnny Ontiberos and wife Irma of Dodge City; Adam Ontiberos and wife Misty of Dodge City; two sisters Lucy Briseno and husband Chuck of Dodge City; Rose Mary Maestas and husband Manuel of Colorado Springs, Colorado and nineteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Jess Ontiberos Sr. and three brothers Lupe, Joey, Anthony and one sister Christine Ontiberos and one grandson Zachary Konrade.

Funeral Mass will be held at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Burial will follow at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Ft. Dodge with full military honors by Howard Gotschall VFW Post # 1714 and the KSARNG Military Honors. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 12:00 to 5:00 PM. A Vigil service will be held on Sunday December 22, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Memorials are suggested to Jessie Ontiberos Jr. Memorial fund in care of the funeral home.
