Dodge City – James (Jim) Levi Feist, 92, passed away on October 4, 2017 in Dodge City.  He was born on March 4, 1925 in Spearville, the son of John and Ivra (Dryer) Feist.

Jim attended grade school in Spearville and graduated in 1943 from St. Joseph Military Academy in Hays. He then went on to graduate from Duquesne University in Pittsburg, PA in 1948.

Jim began his banking career at the Ford County State Bank in Spearville on July 1, 1948. He became the CEO in 1961, and retired as the Bank President and CEO in January 1991. After retiring, he still remained on the Board of Directors until 2016. Jim also served 11 years on Boards of School Districts #71 and #381, as well as being involved in the organization and operation of the Spearville Scouting program for many years. He was also a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Spearville.

On January 23, 1954, Jim married Carol Bickel in Dodge City. She preceded him in death on July 20, 2012.

He is survived by a daughter Letitia (Feist) Covens of Pueblo, CO; four sisters, Margaret Jane Steimel of Bethesda, MD, Elizabeth (Betty) Holloway of Wichita, Marion Rainbolt of San Diego, CA, and Dianne Lawrence of Denver, CO; as well as many nieces and nephews; his loving Good Samaritan Family; and Chuck and Janet Konrade and family of Spearville.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol, two brothers, Tom Feist and Jesse Feist; and sister Carole Wood.

Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Monday October 9, 2017 at 10:30 AM with Father Wesley Schawe presiding.  Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.  Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or Sunporch of Dodge City Resident's Needs (formerly Good Samaritan Society of Dodge City) in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
