DODGE CITY - Jimmy "Jim" Lee Wright, 84, died October 30, 2021 at Residence, Dodge City. He was born on October 7, 1937 at Anthony, Kansas, the son of James Lee and Margaret (Guthrie) Wright.
Jimmy grew up in Wakita, Oklahoma and was a graduate of Wakita High School where he was class valedictorian. He then attended Pan Handle State University and later transferred to the University of Oklahoma. Jim earned his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma. He married Jacquelyn Lindsey on October 10, 1959 in Enid, Oklahoma. They moved to Dodge City where Jim was a pharmacist at Gibson's Pharmacy. He later was co-owner of the Prescription Center Pharmacy in Dodge City for 35 years. Jimmy then finished his pharmacy career at Dillon's Pharmacy.
He was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan, enjoyed westerns and also sang in a barbershop quartet. Jim was a good and kind hearted man and was Boompa to his grandsons and great grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Julie Wright of Dodge City; two grandsons, Jon Graf and Caitlin Bensman of Garden City and James Graf and Destiny Moore of Larned; and 5 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jackie; and a son, Jeffrey.
Celebration of Life will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday November 5, 2021 at 10:00 AM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Private family interment will be at Silent Land Cemetery in Spearville.
