Dodge City - John Alpers, 81, died June 18, 2021 at Sunporch of Dodge City. He was born on June 30, 1939 at Dodge City, Kansas the son of Henry and Pearl (Medley) Alpers.
He married Carol A. Waterhouse on January 23, 1963 in Ashland, Kansas, she preceded him in death on January 4, 1994. Mr. Alpers enjoyed riding his bicycle as well as camping, fishing, drawing, and building things in his spare time. He loved spending time with his family and was the youngest of eight children.
He is survived by two sons Kevin Alpers of Newton and Kyle Alpers of Hutchinson; as well as two grandchildren Josh and Chenoa Alpers and five great grandchildren, and two sisters Patsy Robertson of Montezuma; Dora Mae Brobrog of Midvale, Utah; one brother Melvin Boner of Wenatchee, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday July 1,2021 at 10:00 AM with Mr. Jeff Hiers presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to John Alpers Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
