Dodge City - John Howard Austin, 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 1, 2025 at Sun Porch of Dodge City.  He was born on June 18, 1947 at Ness City, the son of Jess E. Austin and Ila Mae Anderberg.

John was born in Kansas and moved with his family to South Dakota in 1953. He was a police officer in Woodward, Oklahoma. John also was a van and reefer freight driver and later a cattle hauler before becoming injured and retiring in 1996. Mr. Austin loved animals especially his dog Bella and loved his family dearly. He was a dedicated man of God and attended the Bible Baptist Church in Dodge City.

John is survived by his children, John P. Austin of Wichita, Kimberly Austin and partner Mary Enyart of Dodge City, Carol Easley of Florida, and Debbie Willard of Missouri; two stepchildren, Dawn Sager and Darren Kuehnel; five grandchildren, Jayleigha and Jazaleigh Austin, Amanda Easley, Tobey Austin and Jayden Townsend; step grandchildren, Collin, Tanner, and Justin Sager; great grandson, Gage Easley and five siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sibling.

Family will have a memorial service at a later date. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.
