Obituary

John H. Bordwine, 69, died September 22, 2016 at Halsey Hall in Fort Dodge. He was born on February 5, 1947 in Hugoton, the son of James William and Frances (Hartsell) Bordwine.

John attended schools in Hugoton and Liberal. In 1967, he enlisted in the United States Army and served two tours in Viet Nam. In 1970, he was stationed in Germany and Honorably discharged in 1972. After his discharge, John worked at a truck driver for the oil fields in Kansas and Oklahoma. He had been a resident of Dodge City for the past 25 years. On December 11, 2003, he married Lorene Dice. She survives. John enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Lorene of Dodge City, he is survived by five children, Mable Bordwine (Mario Molina) of Dodge City, Kevin Bishop, Jon-Jon Bordwine, Jessica and Jeremy; two step-sons, Robert Dice (Robin) of Akron, Ohio and Johnny Sobczak of Denver, Colorado; and 7 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Sarah Bordwine; one brother, Bill Scarborough; and one sister, Bonnie Scarborough.

Graveside service will be held at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery, Fort Dodge on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM with military rites provided by Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W and KSARNG Military Honors. There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family in care of the funeral home.
