John A. (Drew) Evans, 69, died April 12, 2012 at his home in Ingalls, KS. He was born on January 15, 1943 at Vancouver, WA the son of Harold "Bill" and Florence "Sally"(Evans).
After John was born they lived in Camas, Washington, and Riggins, Idaho. After the death of his father he and his mother moved to Cimarron, KS, around 1955.
After graduating from high school Mr. Evans entered the army and served three years as a clerk typist. Soon after getting discharged from the army he went to college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Alva, Oklahoma. He graduated with a Teaching Degree in Secondary Education, and later earned his Master's Degree in Education and got a certificate in Elementary Education. He also met his future wife while attending college. He married Margaret in Cimarron, KS.
He taught social study class for junior high and high school in Sylvia, KS; Hooker, OK; and Ingalls, KS for a total of 36 years before retiring.
He is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters Marsha Reef and husband Dale of Riverton, Wyoming; Jalon Evans of Garden City, KS; and one son Jamin Evans and wife Kyla of Garden City, KS. Mr. Evans is also survived by his grandchildren Racquel Reef, Kassidy Walter, Kiera Walter, Kyle Evans, Ian Evans, Jay Evans, Jace Evans.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a member of the Valleyview Bible Church of Cimarron.
Funeral service will be held at Valleyview Bible Church on Monday, April 16, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Darren Rempel presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Cimarron, KS. on Sunday, April 15, 2012 from 1:00 to 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Talita Cumi Orphanage in Bolivia in care of the funeral home.
