John C. Legg, 64, died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on July 13, 1946 in Dodge City, the son of Arthur Dean and Rose Marie (Maier) Legg.
John graduated from Dodge City High School. He served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War. On October 13, 1970, John married Carolyn Clary in Dodge City. John worked for Maupin Truck Parts, Inc. since he was 16 years old. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
John is survived by his wife, Carolyn Legg of Dodge City; one son, John Legg, Jr. and wife Cyndi of Topeka; one daughter, Amy Legg of Dodge City; two sisters, Deanne Nelson of Dodge City and Mary Jean Anderwald and husband Robert of Pampa, Texas; one brother, Ronnie Legg and wife Carla of Kennewich, Washington; and three granddaughters, Taylor, Caralee, and Hayley Legg all of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bobby Legg; a brother in law, Charles Nelson; and a nephew, Aaron Anderwald.
Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church in Dodge City on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Mr. Doug Harris presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City with military rites by Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W. There will be no visitation and the casket will remained closed.
