Sublette - John Dee Mosttler, 62, died November 26, 2021 at the University of Kansas-St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. He was born on March 14, 1959 in Julesburg, Colorado the son of Walter Doral and Elsie Katherine (Land) Mosttler.
John spent his elementary years in Sedgwick, Colorado. The family later moved to Sublette and John graduated from Sublette High School in 1977. After graduation, he drove truck for Jack Holloway. He then began his career in the irrigation field. John started with Geis Irrigation which later became T L Irrigation. In 2018, he became the manager of the Sublette location. On September 12, 1981, he married Jennie Ridens. She preceded him in death on March 30, 2015. John later married Neva King on July 7, 2017.
John was a devoted family man. Friday nights were reserved for a family supper and Wednesday was poker night. He was a kind soul that would go out of his way to help others in need. His caring heart led him to be a friend to many.
He attended Christ Church of Haskell County in Sublette and Heaven Bound Cowboy Church in Dodge City.
John is survived by his wife, Neva Mosttler of Sublette; children, Sarah Martin and husband Todd, Angela Baack, Deshawn Mosttler, John Fife, Lillie Fife, Savannah Graybill and husband KT all of Sublette, Leslie Roberts of Garden City, and Sue-Zannah Baker and husband Andy of Bakersfield, California; siblings, Kenneth Mosttler and wife Brenda of Sublette, Janet Olson of Atlanta, Kansas, Wanda Piland and husband Bob of Monet, Missouri, and Kay Stamper and husband Chris of New Richmond, Ohio; and 40 grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jennie Mosttler; siblings, Sue Hoeffner, Alvin Woods, Richard Woods, Leon Woods, Walter Mosttler, and Twila Mosttler; a niece, Ashley Mosttler; and a nephew, Jeff Schutt.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Sublette Southern Baptist Church on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Pastors Dave Erwin and Jay Stapleton presiding. A private family inurnment will be at a later date. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel-PO Box 607-Sublette, Kansas 67877.
