Dodge City - John Todd Steinmitz, 71, passed away on October 28, 2015 in Los Angeles, California. He was born on December 17, 1944 to Virginia Marie Graham and John Edward "Jack" Steinmitz of Parsons.
After graduating from Dodge City Senior High in 1962, he went on to receive his Masters Degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson. He served his country in the United States Navy working as a Radioman via submarine operations.
Upon completing his Naval duties, he moved to Los Angeles where he spent the remainder of his life lending his expertise to one of his passions, the Motion Picture Industry.
He enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, the history of literature and music, and especially his beloved Pacific Ocean. He was always known as being a respected and benevolent person.
Joh is survived by a sister, Lana Ross of Dodge City; niece, Sara Ross-Kimbrel and husband Nathan of Dodge City; nephew, Tyler Ross and wife Katie of Dodge City; great-nephew AJ Ross of Dodge City; extended family, Faith, Hannah, and Julie Lochmann; Jalee and David Dreiling; and Janis Anderson all of Hays; Doris Shields of Kansas City, Missouri; and lifelong friends, Terrence and Chris Neame of Ventura, California.
A private family service has taken place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Memorials are suggested to the Ford County Humane Society or the Wounded Warrior Project in care of Swaim Funeral Home of Dodge City.
