Cimarron - John H. Timken, 91, died Saturday, December 1, 2012 at The Shepherd's Center, Cimarron. He was born on April 14, 1921 at Bison, Kansas the son of Frank E. and Olga OTille (Hardy) Timken.
He grew up in Cimarron and graduated from Cimarron High School in 1939. During WWII he served with the U.S. Army Air Corp in the Pacific Theater, mainly around the Philippines. On September 30, 1944 he married Maulcie ImaJean Jones at Ardmore, Oklahoma. In 1946 they moved to a farm North of Cimarron where he was a farmer/stockman. In 1992 they moved into Cimarron and he retired on July 1, 1999. Maulcie preceded him in death on March 30, 2002.
John was a charter member of the Cimarron First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He also served on the board of directors of the Cimarron Coop Exchange.
John is survived by two sons, Roger Timken and wife Judi of Dighton and Philip and wife Carolyn Timken of North Newton; a brother, Frank Darrell Timken and wife Clarice of Topeka; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, an infant son and a sister Lois Timken.
Funeral service will be held at Cimarron First Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Richard Deimund presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron with military rites by Howard Gotschall Post # 1714, V.F.W. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Cimarron on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from Noon to 8:00 P.M.. Memorials are suggested to Cimarron First Baptist Church or to The Shepherd's Center of Cimarron both in care of the funeral home.
