Montezuma - JoLynne Renee Smith, 60, died January 8, 2025 at her home in McPherson.  She was born on September 12, 1964 in Dodge City, the daughter of Eugene Earl and Clara June (Koehn) Smith.

JoLynne's childhood was spent on the farm near Montezuma.  This is where she developed her love of all animals, especially those found on the farm.  Among her favorites were dogs, cats, and cows. She also loved music and babies.  JoLynne attended school at Richland Valley, south of Dodge City and Paradise Valley Schools, Phoenix, AZ. In 1985, she moved to McPherson.  JoLynne became a resident of Disability Supports of McPherson where she made lifelong friends and gained a second family.

Despite her disabilities, JoLynne's impact on this earth was profound. Her generous expressions of love to those around her and pure joy expressed through her laughter and ornery demeanor will never be forgotten! She was a delight to her family, caregivers and peers.

She is survived by her mother, Clara of Rose Hill; a sister, Rayleen Mermis and husband, Chris of Rose Hill; two nieces, Madison Anderson and husband, Jordan of Shawnee; Haley Giardino and husband, Jack of Spring Hill; and many other family and friends.  JoLynne is preceded in death by her father and an infant brother, Darwin Lee Smith.

Graveside service will be held at Montezuma Mennonite Church on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 1:00 PM with Minister Luther Smith presiding.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Montezuma on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 11:00 AM to noon.  Memorials are suggested to Disability Supports of McPherson in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com
