Obituary

Copeland - Jon C. Tyler was born to Ernest E. Tyler and Barbara (Bishop) on December 21, 1943 in Copeland. He passed away at home in Yuma, Arizona on July 15, 2019, after a long struggle with Prostate/Bone Cancer.

Jon attended Copeland High School where he played Football, Basketball and Track and graduated in 1962. He married Jacqueline (Dohrmann) Tyler October 20, 1963 in Dodge City. Jon was drafted by the U.S Army in 1966 and served with pride in Vietnam from 1967 to April 1968.

Jon spent his life in Agriculture Custom Harvesting/Hauling Grain and Cattle. He created and ran Tyler and Tyler Harvesting and Wheaties Incorporated from 1962 to 2000. He served as an officer on the US Customer Harvesters Association during his harvesting career. He finished his Agriculture career at Western Ag in El Centro, CA until he retired in 2016. He enjoyed teaching those who worked for him that an American Harvest traveling across the country could be a memory of a "Lifetime". He used to tell parents who would let their sons go to harvest with him. "You send me your boy to work for me and I will send you home a man".

Jon enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, skiing in the Rockies, hunting large and small game around the world, sport fishing in fresh and saltwater, collecting guns of all types, and spending time at "coffee" with like-minded associates. After returning from the service he spent his winter months refereeing High School and State level Basketball. He enjoyed watching college football especially K-State football.

He was a member of the Copeland American Legion, US Custom Harvesters Association, Ducks Unlimited, National Rifle Association, North American Hunting Club and Rocky Mountain Elk Association. He served on the Copeland City Council.

Jon is survived by his wife of 55 years and 9 months Jacqueline D. Tyler of Yuma, Arizona; two sons, Jon Eric Tyler and wife Marianne (Reed) Tyler of Yuma, Arizona and Jason M. Tyler of Overland Park; and a sister Joyce (Tyler) Reynolds of Santana. He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest E. Tyler; mother, Barbara F.
