Joyce
Forester
October 15, 1933 – October 7, 2021
Ulysses - Joyce Forester, 87, went to her eternal home October 7, 2021 while residing at Bethel Home in Montezuma. She was born October 15, 1933 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Percy and Rose Etta (Schepers) Smith.
Joyce grew up in Ryus, Kansas just outside Satanta as part of a wonderful community of families called the Carbon Black Camp. She developed life-long friendships that have remained up to the time of her passing. Joyce attended Satanta schools.
On July 31, 1949, she married Roy Forester. Together they had five children. Due to Roy's job, the family traveled extensively throughout the United States until they settled in Ulysses in the early 60's. Joyce took pride in raising her family there. Joyce loved working with people and enjoyed many varied jobs throughout her life. Many remember her from McNitt Drug Store. She spent her later years in South Bend, Indiana and recalled her fondest memories to include working at The Wheel restaurant as a hostess, managing the clubhouse snack bar at Erskine Golf Course, and most fulfilling, she provided health care services to homebound individuals. In her spare time, Joyce had fun camping with family and friends, watching bull riding events and women's softball games, and reading.
Joyce (Granny, Forester Ma) is survived by four children, Jacque Morris & husband, Robert, of Cassville, Missouri; Dana Jones Robbins & husband, Kelly, of South Bend, Indiana; Roy Forester & wife, Dawna, of Sublette; and Michelle Vassar & husband, Troy, of Perry, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
