Obituary

Cimarron - Judy Kay Stand, 66, died October 27, 2020 at the Minneola Hospital.  She was born on August 13, 1954 in Dodge City, the daughter of Leonard and Emily (Thomas) Woods.

Judy's childhood years were spent in Kalvesta.  She was a 1972 graduate of Cimarron High School.  While in high school she met Dan Stand at a roping club dance.  When Dan enlisted in the Navy, Judy waited for him to return and they were married on January 20, 1973 in Kalvesta. After their marriage, they lived in Kalvesta before moving to Cimarron where Judy helped Dan in two business ventures, processing cattle for area feed yards and a custom cutting harvest crew.  Judy and Dan started a family and raised four children, Casey, Lynette, Jeana, and Joe.  Judy later went to work for the post office in Dodge City.  The couple moved to Garden City where Judy owned and operated a beauty shop.  A short move to Texas was next before returning to Cimarron.  Judy worked for Magouirk Chevrolet as a finance manager before going to work at United Telephone as a sales manager, retiring on August 31, 2020.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, including attending many Little Britches Rodeos with her children.

Judy is survived by her husband Dan of Cimarron; four children, Casey Stand and wife Jacqueline of Pottsboro, Texas, Lynette Landis and husband Aaron of Lawrence, Kansas, Jeana Stand of Minneola, and Joe Stand of Hugoton; a stepson, Mike Payton and wife Julie of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, her mother, Emily Woods of Dodge City; six grandchildren, Shelby, Sierra, and Dalton Stand of Pottsboro, Texas, Lane Stand of Hugoton, and Avett and Levi Landis of Lawrence; a step granddaughter, Ashley Payton of Wyandotte, Oklahoma; one brother, Darrell Woods and wife Connie of Kalvesta; three sisters, Ruby Beatty of Dodge City, Margie Cunningham and husband Dale of Dodge City, and Darlene Dyson and husband Rick of Hydro, Oklahoma as well as a host of other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her father, Leonard Woods and a brother, "Doc" Woods.
